KOBLACH, Austria: Simple restorations can be fabricated quickly and in high quality directly in the dental practice using the Ceramill DRS Production Kit+ from Amann Girrbach. The CAD/CAM extension is now also compatible with the intra-oral scanners of other manufacturers. This makes same-day dentistry less complicated and significantly more cost-efficient for dental practices.
With the Ceramill Direct Restoration Solution (DRS) and the AG.Live platform, Amann Girrbach offers dental practices and laboratories easy and safe access to digital dentistry. Validated materials and processes combined with digital communication enable high-quality restorations in the shortest possible time. With the new Ceramill DRS Production Kit+ machine and software package, dental practices can now offer single-visit dentistry or same-day dentistry without having to invest in an additional intra-oral scanner.
Among other things, single crowns up to three-unit bridges can be fabricated in high quality in the practice in just a few steps. For this purpose, the scan files (STL or PLY) from the Ceramill Map DRS intra-oral scanner or from scanners of other manufacturers are uploaded to the AG.Live software platform, and the restorations are designed in just a few clicks using the intuitive Ceramill Mind DRS software.
Production is performed on the Ceramill Motion DRS four-axis CNC milling machine, which delivers highly aesthetic results in only 15 minutes. All materials, as well as milling strategies and tools, are validated in collaboration with the respective manufacturers and offer top safety and long-term stability for the restoration. Larger dentures can be submitted directly to the laboratory quickly and easily with the aid of the digital workflow via AG.Live.
“Our new add-on creates highly flexible and manufacturer-independent options for dental practices—while ensuring high process reliability and providing unsurpassed restoration quality. The fact that intra-oral scan data from other manufacturers can now also be processed in our Ceramill DRS Production Kit+ means that dental practices can expand their range of services in the field of same-day dentistry, offer single-visit dentistry and use existing equipment. The file upload of 3Shape, Medit and iTero intra-oral scanners has already been validated, but all other intra-oral scanners can also be used. Owing to the link to our AG.Live platform and simple data sharing with the laboratory, a spontaneous decision can still be made at any time to have fabrication performed in the laboratory—and of course direct support is always possible,” explained Elena Bleil, product manager of Amann Girrbach’s global business unit for clinical CAD/CAM.
