HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, Canada: A new clinic for Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Dentistry is set to be officially opened by the end of this month. Through the assistance of generous donors such as Nobel Biocare, the clinic will be able to provide students and faculty with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies, improving the level of patient care possible.

Nobel Biocare’s contribution includes a new dental CBCT scanner, the cutting-edge NobelProcera LS3 scanner, as well as NobelClinician treatment planning software and other similar products designed to support the faculty’s outreach work. The CBCT scanner is intended to benefit students and faculty who provide implant procedures for their patients—a core component of treatment at Dalhousie, the faculty’s graduate students and oral surgery residents having placed close to 300 implants in the past year alone.

Overall, the technology will help students gain more knowledge and hands-on experience of dental implants, according to the university. In addition, Nobel Biocare has provided support for Dalhousie University residents in the general practice residency, graduate periodontics, and oral and maxillofacial surgery programs since the early 1990s. The company also presents workshops and provides hands-on training for faculty, students, staff, and laboratory technicians on such topics as wide-ranging as digital dentistry and surgical restoration.

“We have had a wonderful working relationship with Nobel Biocare for over two decades. They are leaders in the field of implant solutions and have always provided us with unrivalled service,” said Dr. Ben Davis, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. “We are extremely grateful for Nobel Biocare’s generous support of our clinic renewal and their gifts will allow our students, faculty, staff and patients, access to top-quality technology and products.”

“It’s been an exciting journey getting to this point and we are positive that utilizing the solutions from Nobel Biocare will ensure that patients and clinicians are having a world-class experience,” added Cory Sears, Regional Sales Manager at Nobel Biocare Canada. “With leading digital scanning technologies and the company’s family of implants, the learning experience will be able to reach new levels and continue to be at the highest possible standard in dentistry.”
