PHOENIX, US: Every year, the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Annual Meeting gathers thousands of members in one place. Since collaboration is crucial in order to foster healthy professional relations and to facilitate the exchange of ideas, this year the event is held in partnership with the Japanese Academy of Clinical Periodontology (JACP) and the Japanese Society of Periodontology (JSP). From 27 to 30 October, the AAP invites dental professionals to Phoenix Convention Center to learn, share and network with world-renowned experts and specialists in periodontics.
“2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of JACP and we are excited to hold such a fascinating meeting in person. This is a special year for shaping the future of periodontology,” said Dr Yasuhiro Takai, president of JACP.
During the event, attendees will get updated on the latest periodontal science and research and will have the chance to get a preview of the findings from the AAP’s most recent Best Evidence Consensus. The findings will be revealed in a special session hosted by some of the members who were involved in developing the documents. Additionally, one of the AAP’s partners, the AAP Foundation, will be hosting special events, including the crowd favourite—the silent auction.
“The educational programmes put forth at this year’s meeting promise to provide stimulating discussions and up-to-the-minute information. It is our hope that by working together and exchanging information, technology and new ideas we can continue to grow and expand the field of periodontology,” said Prof. Yorimasa Ogata, president of the JSP.

Commenting on the importance of honouring academic research in the field, Dr Christopher R. Richardson, president of the AAP, stated: “The entire periodontal specialty owes a debt of gratitude to the educators in universities across the globe as well as the young people comprising the next generation of periodontists. Their research will be on full display during events such as the Research Forum Poster Session and the prestigious Balint Orban Memorial Competition.”
This year’s Corporate Forum will be held on Thursday, 27 October, and will include 30 industry-hosted presentations, each lasting 45 minutes. It will offer a unique opportunity to view the latest scientific and clinical innovations in the field of periodontics at no additional charge.
