AUSTIN, Texas, US: The 2022 edition of the American College of Prosthodontists’ (ACP) Annual Session has commenced today in the Texan state capital of Austin under the theme “Prosthodontics reimagined: Thriving in a new era”. Billed as the premier event in American prosthodontics, it will bring together hundreds of prosthodontists, dental specialists, dental students, dental technicians and other members of the dental team who are seeking to exchange ideas, learn more and earn the 19 continuing education credits on offer.
On Wednesday, a 2022 Board Preparation Course will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. It is designed to demonstrate the process of becoming a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and is recommended for prosthodontic residents as well as experienced prosthodontists who are interested in becoming board-certified. In the afternoon, the focus will be on full-arch implant treatment, and sessions will include “Graftless solutions: Myths and realities” and “Harder, smarter, longer: A decade of change in fixed full-arch treatment management”. Capping off the first day will be the much-anticipated welcome reception, to be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Edge Rooftop bar and pool at the J.W. Marriott Austin hotel.
On Thursday, the morning scientific session will be the intriguingly titled “Power, dragons and the future of prosthodontics”, and the afternoon session will focus on digital innovations in a new era. An exhibition hall reception will take place from 5:00 p.m. that evening and is open to all registered attendees at no further cost. According to the event’s organisers, this reception will offer an ideal opportunity for making corporate connections, browsing new products on offer and visiting interactive exhibits.
Activities on Friday will begin with a preview of what the 2023 Annual Session, to be held in San Diego, has in store, after which there will be a scientific session titled “Lessons learned: Failures and complications”. A new style of session that features robust scholarly debate will follow in the afternoon, and the highlight of the evening will be the Annual Awards and President’s Dinner, a ticketed event beginning at 7:00 p.m. A range of workshops and lectures will then be held on Saturday, the final day of the event. Many of these sessions require preregistration, which can be conducted through the ACP’s website.
Though advance registration for the ACP’s 2022 Annual Session has now closed, on-site registration will be available throughout the meeting. In addition, recordings of the scientific education sessions will be available for purchase three to four weeks after the event’s conclusion. The registration fee will automatically provide all in-person attendees access to these recordings.
Further information regarding the ACP’s 2022 Annual Session is available via its website.
