BASEL, Switzerland: BioHorizons Camlog has announced that it will be participating in the joint meeting of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) and German Association of Oral Implantology (DGI), which is to take place in Berlin in Germany from 28 to 30 September. The company will host two workshops and an expert discussion on guided bone regeneration, and participants will be able to discover its comprehensive portfolio of innovative and holistic regenerative solutions in biomaterials and implant systems at its stand (H09).
The event organisers expect at least 5,000 dental professionals from all over the world to attend the congress. Virtual attendance will also be possible for the first time, allowing participants to be actively involved in the broadcasts and discussions online.
BioHorizons Camlog workshops on allografts and open healing
On 29 September, Prof. Daniel Rothamel (Germany) will present a workshop on allogeneic bone substitute materials for bone regeneration. He will demonstrate the fundamentals and techniques of hard-tissue augmentation with allografts, based on patient cases and using hands-on exercises. The practical exercises on models will include the application of allogeneic materials in particulate form, block augmentation and the shell technique.
Later that day, a workshop by Dr Robert Oretti (UK) will present the concept of open healing and demonstrate options for its application in dental implant therapy. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to choose between the different treatment options, focusing on the steps required to achieve passive closure over the bone graft without compromising the mucogingival line.
Additionally, between the two workshops, Prof. Rothamel and Dr Oretti will provide insights into allogeneic bone substitute materials in an industry forum, taking into account the growing evidence that allogeneic grafts may be a safe alternative to autologous grafts in dental implant therapy. In this forum, the two experts will present new data and therapeutic concepts on allografts indicating the potential clinical relevance of these materials in implant dentistry.
