Dear ADDE members and supporters,
With Christmas around the corner, we can say that 2016 was a good business year for the dental industry and the Association of Dental Dealers in Europe (ADDE). Different countries, companies and dental associations indicated that they either had a good or a very good year. Based on this feedback, it’s safe to say that it was a very productive year for the dental world…
Although several governments within the European Union are taking cost-saving measures, it seems that the average European patient still values a good set of beautiful, healthy teeth and is willing to pay for them. This way the dental sector was somewhat spared from the big saving trend, which we witnessed, among others, in the fields of pharmaceuticals, surgery and hospitalisation.
Next year, the biggest event for the European dental industry, the IDS exhibition, is once again taking place in Cologne. More than before, this edition will focus on the digital evolution, or rather, the digital ‘revolution’ for the General Practitioner and the Dental Technician. This shift in dentistry business models will not only impact our dental dealers, it will also have significant consequences for the European Union regulating these new methods of production.
In addition to this development, we foresee changes in legislation on the interesting subject of ‘medical devices’ in 2017.
In 2017, ADDE, together with our worldwide sister associations, will continue to analyse our fast-changing dental market. We will continue to provide support for our national dental dealer associations and aim towards giving clarity on developing matters.
The end of the year is also the perfect time of the year to thank you for your trust in ADDE, your partnership and support.
We’re happy to welcome 2017. May it be a joyful year filled with personal and professional success. We hope that you, together with us, will stay committed to the future success of our industry.
From everyone here at ADDE, we wish you all the best for the new year.
Dominique Deschietere
