BREA, Calif., US: On 20 April, Envista Holdings announced that it had completed its acquisition of Carestream Dental’s intra-oral scanner business. As previously announced by Envista, this business will be rebranded as DEXIS and will operate as part of the company’s equipment and consumables portfolio.
In a press release issued in late 2021, Envista stated that it had entered into a definitive purchase agreement with Carestream for US$600 million (€553.3 million). In announcing the purchase’s finalisation, Envista CEO Amir Aghdaei emphasised the importance of intra-oral scanners in many digital dental workflows.
“We are very excited to add a suite of world-class intra-oral scanners and software to our portfolio,” he commented.
Aghdaei continued: “Intra-oral scans are often the first step in the digital workflow and critical to many high-value dental procedures, including implants, prosthetics, and aligners. This acquisition further enables our purpose of partnering with dental professionals to improve patients’ lives by digitising, personalising and democratising dental care.”
According to Envista, the acquisition does not include Carestream Dental’s imaging equipment or practice management businesses.
Additional details about the transaction will be set out in a current report on Form 8-K to be filed by Envista and made available through the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s website.
