NEW YORK, U.S.: In a free Dental Tribune Study Club webinar on Wednesday, Nov. 6, host Dr. Jeffrey Rohde will discuss the science behind Solea, a 9.3 μm carbon dioxide all-tissue laser, and the various procedures it enables by eliminating anesthesia and bleeding and by efficiently cutting hard and soft tissue. The participants will have the opportunity to review clinical cases of hard- and soft-tissue procedures performed with Solea and learn how it can be used for cavity preparation and in oral surgeries involving soft tissue and bone ablation.
According to Rohde, Solea is anesthesia-free for cavity preparations, and blood- and suture-free for most soft-tissue surgeries. The laser enables fast and precise cutting of dentin, enamel, gingiva and bone. Additionally, it allows clinicians to incorporate novel surgical techniques, improves restorative results and the patient experience, and facilitates the restorative process.
Rohde graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and molecular genetics and a master’s degree in biochemistry. He then continued his studies at UCLA in the School of Dentistry, graduating with numerous awards, including the Robert B. Wolcott Operative Dentistry Award. In 2006, Rohde became one of the founders of Dentalcompare, an online resource that specializes in helping clinicians learn about new products and techniques. He maintains an innovative restorative and surgical practice in Santa Barbara, California, and works as a clinical editor for Dentalcompare.
The 1-hour webinar, titled “Clinical applications of a 9.3 μm CO2 all-tissue laser,” will be broadcast live on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 8 p.m. EST. Attendance is free of charge after easy registration on the website. During the webinar, participants will be able to ask questions via a chat window and have the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit by completing a multiple-choice questionnaire on the topic. Those who are not able to attend the webinar will have the opportunity to watch the recording at a later time in the archived webinars section.
