NEW YORK, U.S.: Nonsurgical therapy remains the cornerstone of periodontal treatment. To achieve this, patient compliance and proper selection and application of adjunctive antimicrobial agents for sustained biofilm control are important. In a free webinar on Wednesday, Feb. 28, managing biofilm, including new approaches to treating periodontitis, mucositis and periimplantitis, will all be in focus.
According to webinar host Dr Marisa Roncati, frequent re-evaluation and careful monitoring allow for early intervention in the disease state and for reversing or arresting the progression of periodontal and periimplant disease with meticulous nonsurgical anti-infective therapy. In the webinar, Roncati will cover options for nonsurgical treatment of periodontal infections, such as antimicrobial therapy, gingival irrigation and host modulation.
After studying dental hygiene in Boston, U.S., Roncati went on to study dentistry and dental prosthetics in Ferrara, Italy. She taught dental hygiene at the University of Bologna, Italy, from 1991 until 2002 and now lectures in the European Master Degree on Laser Applications programme at Sapienza University, Rome, Italy.
The 1-hour webinar titled, “How to deal with biofilm—New approaches in periodontitis, mucositis and peri-implantitis,” will be broadcast live on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 12 p.m. EST. Attendance is free of charge after easy registration on the website. Participants will be able to ask questions via a chat window and have the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit by completing a multiple-choice questionnaire on the topic.
