BRISBANE, Australia: The International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH) has recently announced that its International Symposium on Dental Hygiene, which is held every three years, will be held in Australia in 2019 and will be hosted by the Dental Hygienists Association of Australia (DHAA) for the second time. The symposium will take place on 15–17 August at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC Brisbane).
According to the IFDH, the symposium has established itself as the leading conference in dental hygiene and has become an essential triennial fixture on the dental hygiene calendar. This year’s scientific programme will focus on all aspects of oral health practice to highlight the vital role of oral health practitioners as primary healthcare providers in the area of comprehensive healthcare. The IFDH believes that the symposium will be of outstanding quality and cover a range of interests to benefit all dental hygienists, dental therapists, oral health therapists and other healthcare providers.
The federation is also certain that this year’s host, the DHAA, has a committed membership group, strong regional relationships and partnerships and has played a key role in the development, establishment and expansion of the oral health field internationally.
BCEC Brisbane, the event venue, is located in a unique riverside cultural and lifestyle precinct known as South Bank. Home to the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, Australia’s newest and largest gallery of historical, modern and contemporary art, and to over 70 cafes, restaurants and stylish shops, South Bank is an inner-city oasis with green spaces, riverfront parkland, rainforest pockets and Australia’s only city-based sand and swimming beach.
As the capital of the Australian state of Queensland, Brisbane is a popular tourist destination, which will offer attendees a vast number of off-congress activities and the opportunity to experience the Australian urban lifestyle. World heritage-listed rainforests are easily accessible within an hour of the city, as are beaches, islands, wineries and the internationally famous Australia Zoo, home of the Crocodile Hunter. The attendees will also have an opportunity to enjoy day trips to the Great Barrier Reef from Brisbane.
Registration for the conference can be completed online at www.isdh2019.com.
