LEUVEN, Belgium: In preparation for GC’s 100th anniversary in 2021, GC Europe will be holding its first International MI Congress, a continuing education event dedicated to minimum intervention (MI) dentistry. The acceptance of and need for online training are increasing in light of travel restrictions and the requirements of physical distancing owing to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Consequently, though originally planned to take place in Barcelona in Spain, the congress will be hosted online on 20 June.
At 10 a.m. CEST, Dr Elmar Reich will give a comprehensive introduction to successful minimally invasive treatment in dental practice. (Image: GC Europe)
Under the theme “Minimum intervention dentistry for your life”, the congress will address challenges and solutions in preserving dental tissue with the aim of maintaining patients’ oral health, seeking to keep teeth in function for as long as possible. While MI formerly focused on cariology, dentistry has seen a paradigm shift in the approach to MI in recent years, mainly due to the increasing importance of prevention in oral healthcare. Today, MI care is described as a holistic team care approach to help maintain long-term oral health through preventive, patient-focused, behaviour-related care plans in the general population.
At 12 p.m. CEST, Prof. Hervé Tassery will explain how to use different diagnostic tools in minimum intervention dentistry. (Image: GC Europe)
In this respect, GC Europe’s online event will provide all members of the dental team with the unique opportunity to learn more about key points of scientific and professional strategies to promote responsible decision-making in the dental practice. Leading experts in the field from Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Turkey and the UK will share the latest insights on MI dentistry with reference to their hands-on experience. Held in English, with simultaneous interpretation into French and Spanish, presentations will cover treatments of patients of all ages.
In her lecture, starting at 4:20 p.m. CEST, Prof. Ivana Miletić will demonstrate the use of glass hybrid material in everyday practice. (Image: GC Europe)
For GC, dental education has always played an important role, and e-learning has been an integral part of the company’s training approach since 2013, when its first webinar was broadcast, and its own online education platform was launched in 2014. GC Europe is therefore well equipped to offer dental professionals remote valuable knowledge transfer.
The International MI Congress will start on 20 June at 10 a.m. CEST and run until approximately 7 p.m. After quick and easy registration on www.gceuropecampus.com, dental professionals can join up to nine sessions on contemporary diagnostics and caries management, restorative treatment options, as well as daily challenges in youngsters. In addition, they can obtain one continuing education credit per completed webinar.
