Align Technology - iTero intra-oral scanners

Intraoral scanners are modernizing today’s dental practices by replacing the need for physical impressions, taking treatment planning and collaboration online, and ensuring more accurate restorations and appliance fit. Among intraoral scanners, Align’s iTero provides unmatched accuracy, image quality and utility.

As the only digital intra-oral scanner on the market to utilize parallel confocal imaging technology, the iTero scanner uses laser and optical scanning to achieve a high level of precision without powder or complicated wand hovering. Flexibility and utility are equally important advantages of the iTero scanner, designed to work seamlessly with the Invisalign system and the Invisalign Outcome Simulator.

The 3D digital file generated from the scanner can then be used for various procedures and services, including orthodontic diagnosis, digital records storage, and milling of physical dental models for use by labs to create restorative units such as veneers, inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges, implant abutments and implant crowns.

The new iTero Element intra-oral scanner, announced in March 2015, is engineered to capture 6,000 frames per second—20x faster than the current iTero—resulting in real-time 3D visualization of the digital scan in just minutes. The iTero Element also offers two compact, space-saving form factors, a 40% smaller and lighter wand that features built-in controls with integrated gyro technology for rotation of models on screen, and a 19” high-definition, multi-touch display.
